    @Luvlydrk1 If you make it narrow, two skeins of yarn should be enough.

    @CB50221 You can make the scarf as long as you want to.

    Teresa,
    Thank you for the great instructions. I would like to make this a long scarf would that be possible? Or will it through off the gauge? thank you.

    Thank you so much for posting these tutorials! I made a few shell scarves for cousins in Mexico while I was there this past December and one for a cousin in Texas. I also just finished a set of shell hat and scarf for a friend in a very nice sapphire blue. These are easy and they look elegant.

    As with many others, I learned to crochet a little as a child and I now want to pick it back up. I can do a chain, sc, and dc pretty well and just finished a blanket. I’m now trying to make a shell scarf for my grandson who is 3. I chained 16 (for a smaller neck size) and followed the instructions for the first row, but at the end, it said to skip 2 chains and single crochet, but I had no chains left – only the three scallops. This was right before it said to single crochet, chain 3 & turn.

    I’m pretty sure I’m doing everything right but the first row always comes out curving. It is supposed to be 5 dc in the one chain. Is it just my tension maybe? I’ve tried adjusting my tension but everytime the row comes odd and stretched looking! Help!
    Your crochet videos have helped me learn a new hobby, thank you! 😀

    I’ve practiced this, but I think I crochet too tightly, since my shells come out small and the spaces in my chain look huge in comparison… It just looks awkward…
    More practice, I suppose…

    I also use red heart yarn but 5 times smaller than that! 🙂

    @dancehappy202 I would suggest a chain of 10 or 16 for a smaller width.

    @dancehappy202 never mind! i figured it out. i just did a starting chain of 21 and my pattern is 3 shells 2 shells 3 shells 2 shells. it’s the perfect width for her neck now. BTW… everytime i want to learn a stitch i watch YOUR videos. they are so easy to learn when i can see and hear it very clearly. thankyou so much for taking the time to teach so many people!

    @dskhdjk I always go below the two loops at the top of the stitch. It would not hurt anything if you did go through the front or back only. I go through both because I find that is most secure where, one loop may pull up and create a hole.

    Your videos are great! I have trouble seeing if you go under one loop or two loops, the front and back loops. Will it make any difference if you do either one? Which one did you do in this video or do you have another preference?

    @urbancyclist1 You can make hats and afghans, just about everything with the single and double crochet. They are the basic stitches.

    I was up till 2am crocheting! What type of things can I do with chain, dc, sc, tb… just to give me some ideas of how much progress I am making.

    I am working on an afghan pattern that calls for me to do, “v stitch twice”, does this mean that I do 2 v stitches in the same chain or do I do 1 v stitch in 1 chain and the 2nd v stitch in the 2nd chain. It wasn’t very clear, and I’ve taken this down twice now, I’m never ending up with the number of stitches it says. I put 2 v stitches in 1 chain. Thanks in advance

    @shampoobla I would recommend between 175-250 chains. It is going to depend on the size yarn and hook that you use as well.
